About COVID-19 Mental Resilience and Wellness Talk
COVID-19 Mental Resilience and Wellness Talk by SERA and Singapore Counselling Centre
Since the COVID-19 outbreak in December 2019, countries have been closing their borders, implementing lockdowns or circuit breakers that continue to stretch for weeks and limit the movement of citizens to minimize the spread of the virus.
These developments can impact the mental well-being of individuals where they may experience the following:
- Anxiety as a result of constant exposure to the news about increasing number of infections
- Fear and distress over uncertainty about the economy and careers
- Fear of contracting the virus
- Worry about the health of their loved ones
- Social isolation as they are now working from home and have minimal social contact with others
- Stress to take care of young children while working
This may affect individuals who have pre-existing mental illness badly as well.
